Beautiful riding….like beautiful music. Such a joy to see this horse so happy and enjoying this. Can’t say enough! Wish you could do a clinic somewhere here in the Hawaiian islands.

If there is enough interest where you are, we can always come to you! Let us know if you would be interested in hosting an Art2Ride clinic and we can discuss pricing and booking.

Congratulations! I have loved watching the training progress on Bailador. Since finding your website and watching your videos over and over again, I have learned so much valuable information. I now watch other horses and trainers and can see the incorrect riding/training occurring. I am just so discouraged that I can not find a classical dressage trainer that practices the same as you that is in the north san diego area.. I do not have my own horse yet and have been taking lessons for over a year now and feel that I am not progressing. any advise would help!

What a wonderful ride! It is amazing how far Bailador has progressed over the past three years. It is a lesson to all of us who want to rush our horses towards some arbitrary goal or who want quick results. That is just not Nature’s way. Improvement comes tiny bit by tiny bit. It is a process, and not a quick one. Training our horses is nature’s way of telling us all to slow down and take our time. Appreciate the small daily changes. Celebrate and build on every small victory/advancement and just stay the course. Training a horse is a lot like painting the Sistine chapel. If you want something beautiful as the end product, you are going to have to take the time to do it correctly. We forget–to allow the beauty and joy and relaxation in our horses to shine through simply takes time, no matter how experienced or skilled you are. Nature has its own rhythm and time table. The reward is great for those who respect Nature’s way, as is amply demonstrated by your ride on Bailador.

Join me as I post weekly blogs covering many topics relating to Classical Foundation Training. I have intentionally left out the word "dressage" because many people have a negative association with the prevalent "crank and spank" approach or that it is a sport for only those who are afraid to jump.

Dressage as it is meant to be is an understanding of how to best optimize a horse's movement and ability to carry a rider, surely a benefit for any horse, any discipline. It is also important in maintaining your horse's safety, soundness and sanity.
