Will Faerber and Karen Loshbaugh take you through all the steps involved in teaching a horse Work In Hand. This video covers the techniques and theory of teaching a horse to engage and work through its back as the first steps in correctly developing the horse’s top line in preparation to be ridden.

Many horses today are ridden before they ever have the opportunity to learn how to carry the weight of the rider, or to have developed the strength to lift their backs that would enable them to carry the rider safely and without discomfort or damage.

This system will add years of useful life to your horse, as well as ensure that your horse remains calm and happy in its work, allowing the trainer to develop real trust between horse and rider. It also teaches the student how to develop correct contact with the horse’s mouth that allows a real dialogue to develop between them. The video includes Will Faerber working a number of horses in hand for the very first time, so that you can experience for yourselves these techniques put into practice as Will narrates the process.

From the Blog!

Join me as I post weekly blogs covering many topics relating to Classical Foundation Training. I have intentionally left out the word "dressage" because many people have a negative association with the prevalent "crank and spank" approach or that it is a sport for only those who are afraid to jump.

Dressage as it is meant to be is an understanding of how to best optimize a horse's movement and ability to carry a rider, surely a benefit for any horse, any discipline. It is also important in maintaining your horse's safety, soundness and sanity.
