    Tytti and Dj,

What a heartfelt loss with the passing of Usko. I have been watching your progression since the beginning of your posts. Usko was well loved and cared for and was coming along nicely (a testament to Will Faerber’s kind approach to training).

Your working as a team with Usko has influenced my husband (a nonrider) to take up lunging our haflinger and doing very well with her. I thank you for that.

I am sorry for your loss,

    Ginny

Ginny, so pleased for you that your husband can share the hobby with you! DJ is so keen and happy nowadays to lunge, that I get the opportunity very seldom to do it myself! 😀 He really enjoys it so much more than riding.

Thanks for the very kind words,
      Tytti

    Dear Tytti and Dj,

I’m so sorry to hear of your losing Usko. I’ve watched all your posts and appreciate that you’ve shared your training experiences. Usko was a joy to watch. I’m sure you’ve helped many riders and their horses with your generosity.

My best sympahties from Finland also to DJ and Tytti!
By Tytti´s discussions on Finnish forums I ended up to this webpage, when I started to look for help with the riding of my own horse. I´ve always been looking forward to seeing the next video and the progress you´ve made with Usko.
Now I´ve been working one year with my horse by this “new way” and have got a huge help from you all guys. Thank you all!

Goodness me, Marianna! How very uplifting for me to hear that something that I wrote in that Finnish ridersforum made you come up here and learn something new. 🙂 Onhan HT netistä nyt sitten jotain hyötyä kuitenkin! Pitäisiköhän sinne pistäytyä nykyjään vähän useammin… 😉 Great!

Hope that things are working well with your horse!

    Dear Tytti and Dj
I have been enjoying following you on art2ride’s educational blog, and learned so much from you and Usko. My heart just sank hearing the news of Usko’s passing, I know how you loved him and how special he was to you and it was crystal clear how he loved you in return.
    All my best
    Lone

    Dear Tytti and Dj,
I have been following your progression on art-to-ride since the beginning. You are a great inspiration. Usko was obviously very much loved. It is a pleasure to know that there are people in this world that love their horses and take good care of them.

    RIP Usko

Thanks for the kind comments from all of you! <3

The whole summer has gone, and I have not watched any videos from Usko… And only now browsed Will's blog pages in case there were comments… Still it brings tears to my eyes. He was a real nice and gentle soul. Loved by everyone at the stables for his good manners and charming eyes… 😀 Very sad still that he had to go, but there was indeed nothing we could do to save him in the end – everything possible was done, but it was sadly his time to go.

Pöly had been waiting to find a new home for quite some time, and I am truly happy I went for it (had to fly to see him!), even though it was very soon after Usko had passed. He is totally different to Usko, which is very good, but yet he is a Finnhorse and on some parts very alike Usko… He is charming as well… well behaved and gets along with other horses, just as Usko was.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, uplifting words and so lovely comments again… They do warm our hearts over here.

    Tytti (&DJ)

Join me as I post weekly blogs covering many topics relating to Classical Foundation Training. I have intentionally left out the word "dressage" because many people have a negative association with the prevalent "crank and spank" approach or that it is a sport for only those who are afraid to jump.

Dressage as it is meant to be is an understanding of how to best optimize a horse's movement and ability to carry a rider, surely a benefit for any horse, any discipline. It is also important in maintaining your horse's safety, soundness and sanity.
